Ways to Lower the Risk of Heart Diseases and Improve Health

There are several ways recommended by the American Heart Association to improve overall health and specially lower the risk of heart diseases. Here are “Life’s Simple 7” steps:

  1. Get active

Engage in regular workouts. Create a routine with 5 days of at least 30 minutes of moderate aerobic activity. For an added benefit, you can alter the routine and devote two of those days to muscle-strengthening exercises.

  1. Control Cholesterol levels

Eat foods high in fiber and low in cholesterol, saturated and trans-fats. This is also helped by maintaining physical activity and a healthy weight. Also be sure to keep up with regular with check ups and screening tests.

  1. Healthy eating

  1. Blood pressure control

Get your blood pressure checked routinely and keep it in a healthy limit if you have high blood pressure. You should also reduce your salt intake if you are having hypertension.
